Pay Team Opportunity APS Level 3 non-ongoing position Position available in Canberra The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our role is to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplace relations and ensure compliance with Australian workplace laws. As a member of the Pay Team within the People Branch, you will provide timely, accurate and comprehensive services to the Executive and employees of the Agency and provide stakeholders with timely and comprehensive written and verbal advice. You will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pay team service. These services include: • Guidance and advice regarding payroll matters • Interpretation and advice about legislative and industrial agreements • Payroll processing, administration and have outstanding attention to detail • Contribution to the development of policies and procedures that support payroll services • Manage own workloads in an environment of competing priorities As a member of the Pay Team, you will work with your Team Leader to provide guidance, advice and support to employees on pay related matters. You will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where judgement and attention to detail is required. You will handle confidential information appropriately and value inclusion and diversity. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound judgement, commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to work with limited direction. You will also be confident in resolving problems and providing clear, constructive and timely advice and feedback. Typical Duties The duties of the HR Advisor – Pay include, but are not limited to: • Completing payroll transactions and related correspondence in accordance with the payroll cycle • Monitoring and responding to email correspondence • Providing clear, comprehensive and accurate verbal and/or written advice to stakeholders within appropriate timeframes • Maintaining accurate records to a high standard, including digital files • Contributing to the development of new practices and procedures • Contributing to projects that support team business objectives • Assisting with the coordination and scheduling of interviews for recruitment exercises Selection Criteria • Experience or the ability to quickly learn how to undertake pay transactions on an automated pay management system (SAP experience is desirable but not essential) • Ability to interpret employment legislation and provide accurate advice on employee entitlements • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality • Exceptional customer service skills, including initiative and the ability to foster effective working relationships with stakeholders with both internal and external stakeholders • Excellent organisational skills, including drive to achieve results and respond to changing and competing priorities Applicant Information Kit Opens in new window Position Description – DOCX Opens in new window Position Description – PDF Opens in new window
