Be responsible for oversight of Safety4Rail project implementationHigh level proficiency in English and some ability in Spanish (beneficial)Fixed Term until 1 October 2022 (44,000 Euros per annum)The Organisation RMIT is a multi-sector university of technology, design and enterprise with more than 91,000 students and 11,000 staff globally. It facilitates RMIT’s engagement with European universities and industry partners, and supports trans regional collaborative projects, with a particular focus on partnerships across Europe, Australia, Asia, and Latin America.The Role and Your ResponsibilitiesThe Research Fellow will be based at RMIT Europe and the primary focus will be to play a pivotal role in delivering on RMIT Europe’s objectives for the H2020 project “Data-based analysis for SAFETY and security protection for detection, prevention, mitigation and response in trans-modal metro and railway networks (SAFETY4RAILS)”, for which RMIT Europe is the coordinator of a work package and a contributor to other work packages.  2020 European project rail cyber-security researchThe RMIT led project component will develop a comprehensive asset management system for railways based on the Central Asset Management System (CAMS) developed by RMIT Australia for buildings, bridges, drainage and council infrastructure.Skills & Experience RequiredYou will have research experience (industry and/or academic) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. In addition, you will have experience with predictive modelling and resilience of structures, infrastructure or mechanical systems and project management skills. Essential to the role will be your analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to engage with key research stakeholders. You will be able to clearly communicate research results and concepts in high quality research outputs and grant applications. Qualifications and RequirementsA Ph.D in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Interest andexperience in simulation and software engineering will be highly desirable.High level proficiency in English with some ability in Spanish beneficial.Eligible to legally work in Spain.
