Position overview This position is a fixed term appointment for a period of three years to research and engineer solutions and frameworks within one of the two project areas: Accessible AI and Privacy Through Extremely Distributed Machine Learning. Applications are particularly invited from researchers and software engineers with interests and expertise in the areas of Data Science, Machine Learning and Software Engineering. The positions are situated within the School of Computing, aligning with a mandate to explore new approaches to educating future Data Scientists through Software Engineering. We particularly welcome and develop diversity of backgrounds, experiences and ideas and encourage applications from individuals who may have had non-traditional career paths, who may have taken a career break or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia. Project 1: Accessible Artificial Intelligence Delivering new technology to make Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science accessible. Developing a new software framework that enables state-of-the-art machine learning, artificial intelligence and data science technology as it emerges from research to be readily available and easily utilised. Project 2: Privacy Through Extremely Distributed Machine Learning Inventing the future for privacy through massively distributed Machine Learning. Research how encrypted data can be massively distributed and yet still available for machine learning algorithms to build artificial intelligence systems and Data Science processes delivery significant benefit to the individual whilst contributing to improved society.
