From mine to market, behind each of our operations and projects are technological innovations and data science that are driving new industry standards in mining and metals.With a clear focus on values, performance and strong leadership, you get to grow with an organisation that values your work and rewards you accordingly.Reporting to the Specialist Geoscientist Data & Automation you will:Provide the highest quality data report, analysis and insights to various data sourcesLiaise with stakeholders including geoscientists, field operations, hydrogeologists, planners etc. to identify business improvement and value driven opportunitiesApply advanced computer programming skills to deliver high quality data and automation solutionsStay abreast of new technologies and best practices in in data science and data management to enhance the business performanceSupport advanced analytics projects delivered by internal and/or external project teamsEmploy advanced statistical methods and artificial intelligence (machine learning, deep learning) to advance geological and OBK understandingWhat you’ll bringA bachelor or higher degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related coupled with practical experience within your field of qualificationExperience with designing and deploying technical solutions, which deliver tangible, ongoing valueExperience writing high-quality Python code with knowledge and experience of Numpy, Scipy, Pandas and MatplotlibGeneral knowledge of and experience with relational databases and data modelling. Experience with SQL databases is requiredA willingness to learn new technologies on the jobIt will also be beneficial if you have:Familiarity with other programming languages: C#, JavaScript etc.Experience in: Microsoft Power Platform Suites, Cloud computing (AWS or Azure), AI & machine learning frameworks and tools, web development, DevOpsExperience working in a mining and resource sectorWhere you will be workingIn the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Rio Tinto operates the world’s largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets with industry-leading margins.
