The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.Job DescriptionThe Gene Therapy’s Manager, Talent Acquisition will be responsible to manage a team of staff recruiters to meet the hiring needs of the department. In partnership with Penn’ Central Recruiting, GTP’s leadership work to meet all hiring goals and compliance requirements for effective recruiting. In addition, the Manager, TA will be responsible for the full life cycle recruiting for key roles in the department including sourcing candidates, screening sourced candidates, as well as Penn applicants, maintaining applicant records and assisting hiring managers through the applicant review process.In addition to sourcing & recruiting on active openings, the incumbent will collaborate with departmental leaders on a regular basis to proactively identify future hiring needs. The Manager, TA will have a strong command over sourcing tools outside of the Penn careers page to attract candidates, such as social media, niche job boards, networking groups, industry events, job fairs, etc. This role will be responsible to train and develop staff based on that knowledge as well as train on Penn recruitment processes. This position will work closely with the University’s Central Recruitment. Ideally the individual will hold an academic science background combined with recruiting experience in screening, interviewing and assessing candidates.Qualifications:5-7 years’ experience as recruiter as an individual contributor.1-3 years supervisory experience.Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific field, and three to five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Full life cycle recruiting & sourcing experience of scientific candidates.Full life cycle recruiting & sourcing experience of senior & executive candidates.Knowledge of staffing systems and tools , preferably Workday.Expertise in candidate sourcing solutions.Behavioral competencies: people management, planning and organizing, communication, problem analysis and problem solving, judgment, decision-making, adaptability, teamwork, negotiation skills, confidentiality.
