>Canberra ACT, Sydney NSW, Adelaide SA, Melbourne VIC, Brisbane QLD, Perth WA, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Townsville QLDThe key duties of the position include:The Enforcement Division bears primary responsibility for the ACCC’s investigation and enforcement activities. The Division’s activities directly support the ACCC’s role in promoting competitive and informed markets and fair trading practices, and contribute directly to protecting customers.The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting matters across a range of industries with the potential to be involved in litigation, enforceable undertakings and other enforcement and compliance matters. Role and duties As a Senior Investigator you will be responsible for investigating potential breaches of the provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including leading more complex investigations. This will include assessing evidence, interviewing witnesses, briefing legal advisers as well as preparing and presenting updates and recommendations to the Enforcement Committee and Commission. You will possess a good, working understanding of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or the ability to quickly attain one. You will also possess an ability to objectively and strategically assess potential evidence and information in a timely and efficient manner. In undertaking your role you will be required to maintain an awareness of and adherence to Enforcement Division KPIs including investigation time frames and reporting requirements. The ability to work as part of a team is crucial. The successful applicant will: Investigate, research, analyse and evaluate possible contraventions of the Competition and Consumer Act of a complex and sensitive nature.Analyse and assess information gathered in the investigation or project and make sound determinations about the probity of the information, the further information required and potential sources of further information.Identify logical next steps and the most suitable resolution for investigations and persuasively communicate the reasons for decisions and recommendations.Prepare reports, correspondence, statutory notices, concise and persuasive papers, reports, minutes, briefs, media releases and other materials including for consideration of senior members of the Commission.Confer with and instruct lawyers in relation to matters under investigation and subject to proceedings. Attend Court to give evidence, where required.Liaise with industry, government agencies and consumer groups in the State/Territory in which the position is located, in relation to the Competition and Consumer Actand the Commission’s functions, address these groups as required.Respond to complaints and inquiries.Assist in the supervision and development of staff as required, including by supervising and delegating work to, and reviewing work prepared by, more junior staff and contributing to staff training.RecruitAbility applies to this vacancy.
