Laboratory Technician – Concrete Stonyfell

Job Description

Boral are currently seeking an organised and experienced individual to join the Boral Technical Services team based at our Stonyfell Laboratory in Adelaide as a Laboratory Technician.  This role reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and involves undertaking tasks to monitor, develop and optimise technical performance of our concrete and quarry products and services.  The laboratory consists of a dynamic team that services Boral’s Concrete Plants and Quarries in South Australia from Port Augusta to Mount McIntyre. Technicians complete varied duties in different areas and are exposed to varying projects ranging from general residential work to high level projects such as Bridges, Dams, roads and other large infrastructure projects.  Duties include: Conduct on-site and laboratory-based quality testing, in accordance with work instructions and test methods, of raw materials and concrete and quarry products. Some weekend work and overtime time and travel to Country areas will be required. Actively monitor results to ensure conformance with Australian Standards and customer specifications Liaise with technical, production and sales staff in relation to internal/external customer requirements  Assist in the management of concrete mix designs, including mix optimisation Involvement in product development, including trials Maintain, observe, and be actively involved in the requirements of the Boral Health, Safety and Environmental procedures Maintenance of the Laboratory according to NATA accreditation requirements. Skills & Experience: Safe behavioural work habits and a commitment to safety and quality Previous experience in a construction material testing facility, preferably concrete (desirable) Relevant qualifications in laboratory operations, science or another relevant discipline e.g. Civil, Chemical or Materials (desirable) Experience with computer systems for monitoring and reporting of data. Microsoft Office essential (QestLab and/or QestMix experience desirable). Ability to work unsupervised, within a team environment Good time management and organisational skills Knowledge of Australian and Industry standards and test methods (desirable) Strong analytical skills with a strong customer focus A valid full South Australian Drivers Licence is essential
