The Venue The Royal Bondi, an iconic watering hole since 1907, knows how to have a good time. The front bar at The Royal gives you everything you’d expect from a classic local. The casual Italian eatery Totti’s, headed up by exec chef Mike Eggert, is all about enjoying simple, delicious food with your favourite people. The Bottle Shop rounds out this local’s destination, stocked full of everything from organic and natural wines to crowd pleasing regional favourites, with craft and classic beers, ready-made cocktails, small batch sprits and even non-alcoholic treats to choose from. The Role We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as Assistant Bottle Shop Manager.  Working closely with the Bottle Shop Manager, you will be contributing to the selection of stock and building on strong client relationships as well as participating in regular workshops and training. You will be working within a fast-paced environment and alongside multiple departments within a complex style venue, so as well as giving personal beverage advice to our guests from an impressive list of products we will encourage you to build relationships with winemakers and suppliers whilst also taking charge of stock management and inventory control. You are a professional with previous experience in retail or hospitality management and operating a business as if it’s your own, and with a WSET or similar wine qualification. Responsible for the financial performance of the business with a focus on driving a sales performance culture, you will be expected to develop the offering through staff training, a guest-centric approach to service, maintaining store presentation and activating promotions. A strong product knowledge across alcohol brands and wine, plus stock control management experience is preferred though training will be provided. The shop is open seven days a week, including evenings and weekends so your roster will require availability across these shifts as needed. To be successful, you will need: Excellent communication skills A current RSA and the ability to comply with licensing and other relevant legislation The ability to drive a sales focused team with a goal to increase revenue Excellent customer service skills and a high level of personal presentation Strong wine and beverage knowledge Computer and Microsoft 365 literacy including POS systems The Reward When you join Merivale, you are joining a company that values you.
