We are famous for our fresh food offering and lead Tasmania in the quality, range and visual appeal of our products across all departments. We are an independently owned and run Tasmanian business, whose central values of pride, passion, growth, value and family inform everything we do.  We aim to delight each and every customer and go ‘above and beyond’ to provide an enjoyable shopping experience in a beautiful environment. We embrace excellence and encourage our team members to grow and succeed in a business they are proud to be a part of.  About the Role … Opportunities exist for talented Customer Service or ‘Front End’ Team Members to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. As a Counter Team Member, you will report to the Counter Team Leader and work within the Counter Team in a fast-paced role focusing on excellent customer service and being the ‘face’ of Hill Street for all customer enquiries and needs. The Counter is the first and last point contact for customers in the store and it is important for a Counter Team Member to create a lasting positive impression. Your day will involve:Welcoming customers, answering their questions, helping them locate items, and providing recommendations.Serving customers in a timely manner, while being friendly and courteous. Providing helpful information to customers on products and promotions.Recommending and upselling products, including appropriate alternatives or complementary additions.Operating Point-of-Sale (POS) registers and other electronic equipment.Learning products, corresponding codes and all POS operations for efficient transactions.Accepting payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate and proving a receipt to every customer.Processing refunds and exchanges, and resolving complaints.Bagging or wrapping purchases to ensure safe transport.Offering and arranging assistance to carry customer’s groceries to their car when necessaryFollowing all the laws surrounding the sale of alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco related items.Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors.Updating displays around the counter to ensure the area is neat and tidy at all times. About You … You will have a friendly and open attitude, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You will enjoy dealing with customers and helping them in any way you can. You will be enthusiastic in your approach to your job and maintain an energetic work pace to complete the tasks required during your shift.  You must also have a passion for customer service, love working with food, be able to work with a high level of accuracy in processing customer payments, and enjoy working in a busy store where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of retail professionals. Flexibility to work across our span of hours, including weekends and early starts, is also required.To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and experience:At least 1 year’s experience working predominantly as a Customer Service or ‘Front End’ Team Member with another food retailer or within the hospitality industry (if you do not have this experience, please apply for our  Casual /Part time Team Member – Entry Level roles instead).Excellent communication skills and a high level of competence in written and spoken EnglishVery good retail food product knowledge and a love of food, cooking, nutrition and different cuisines, which you will share with your team and your customersStrong judgement and problem solving skills Ability to work well within a team environmentA friendly and responsive customer service styleVery good attention to detail, accuracy in processing customer transactions, and excellent time management skillsHigh level of energy and an ability to take direction and initiativeDemonstrated self-motivation, adaptability, drive, and efficiencyAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentA growth mindset with the ability to learn from mistakes and continue learningAbility to comprehend and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and Workplace Health and SafetyIf this sounds like you, please register by clicking the “Interested” button and  we’ll be in touch if a suitable role comes up. No Recruitment Agencies, please
