About The Opportunity
 

The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care in the Emergency Department. The Nursing Unit Manager provides leadership and maintains an effective working relationship with staff, other health professionals and customers of the organization with a primary focus on daily operations of the Emergency Department.

What you'll be doing

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
  2. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  4. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise
  5. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the management of the unit and the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  6. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  7. Demonstrated understanding of Emergency Department key performance indicators and proven ability to work under pressure
  8. Proven leadership skills with the ability to build constructive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
