Who we are looking for? The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for an Office Assistant/ Assistant Photographer vacancy within the Communications and Corporate Relations branch. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised administrative assistant with professional photography experience. Working with the Australian Parliament’s photography unit, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the AUSPIC office and studio, including the maintenance of the diary, booking system, phone lines and emails. The role will also involve working as a photographer in the team during peak periods. To be successful in this role, you will be required to maintain a professional and calm demeanour, work collaboratively with stakeholders and provide services and information as required. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: 1. As a member of the Auspic photographic team, provide administrative support for the Auspic office and studio, including the maintenance of the Auspic diary and the monitoring and management of the Auspic phone lines and email boxes 2. Assist in the creation of a photographic record of the life of the Australian Parliament, including photographing historically significant parliamentary events 3. Assist in the creation, manipulation, maintenance and archiving of photographic databases for internal and external use 4. Under direction of the Senior Photographer, provide support to the Auspic team during peak demand times to do photographic work. This may include taking images of Parliamentarians under their Photographic Entitlement, or general photography around Parliament House 5. Prepare accurate quotes and invoices for completed work 6. Maintain photographic equipment in a serviceable condition, arrange repairs as required 7. Maintain stocks and consumables to support the operation of the office and its work 8.
