The ANZSOG Canberra team is located within the Crawford School of Public Policy, a school within the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.  ANZSOG is a global leader in education and government-focused research relevant to the public sector. It is owned by, and works for, the Australian and New Zealand national governments and the eight Australian State and Territory governments. It works in close partnership with 15 member universities across Australia and New Zealand, including the ANU. Crawford School of Public Policy is a School within CAP and is Australia’s premier public policy school, with recognised world-class expertise and experience in economics, political science, environmental management and development, and on key Asia-Pacific countries, especially China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as Australia. The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region.  About the role We are seeking a Research Officer to provide comprehensive support on a diverse range of research, engagement and administrative activities as part of the ANZSOG Canberra team. The Research Officer will report to Professor Ariadne Vromen, the Bunting Chair of Public Administration and Deputy Dean Research of ANZSOG, and work closely with other members of the ANZSOG research team. This role will see you work across multiple areas of responsibility, including research support, grant development and project management, research translation, and general administrative support. Our ideal candidate Our ideal candidate will have a degree in a discipline related to the ANZSOG Canberra team’s work (e.g. public policy, political science, government or related disciplines), with demonstrated experience in a research or research support role, and highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. You will have demonstrated expertise in policy analysis, finding and interpreting data, qualitative data collection, and research data analysis, potentially including quantitative survey data analysis. You will also have a demonstrated understanding of public policy processes, including the role of evidence and analysis in public decision-making. To excel in this role, you will also be a skilled communicator and an organised individual who can manage a broad range of tasks, from research analysis to administrative tasks and organising meetings.
