We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

    We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals interested in completing a Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing (Surgical Stream) to join our teams. This is a part time-fixed term position, working 64 hours per fortnight, based at one of the following surgical clinical areas:

  • Emergency General Surgery (3S)
  • Colorectal and Hepatobiliary Surgery (3SW)
  • General Medical and Gastroenterology (5N)
  • Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) & Plastics (7SE)
  • Orthopaedics (7SW)
  • Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, BOE (9W)
  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital is offering a 12 month Acute Care Post Graduate Nursing course in conjunction with our affiliate partner La Trobe University. This course follows a professional development framework which supports nurses in developing higher-order clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills, specialised clinical proficiency and exceptional communication skills required to care for the complex acutely unwell patient.

    Applications are now open for the Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing – Surgical Stream. This course is open to Registered Nurses who have successfully completed a Graduate Nurse Program.

    About The Program

  • Enrolment into a Master of Acute Care Nursing through La Trobe University is required, with exit points at Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma levels (a number of commonwealth supported positions will be available)
  • Program length is 12 months
  • The Nursing Education Department including experienced, passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Educators will support students in this transition into Acute Care Nursing
