About thisrole:

The Officefor the Early Years is a division of the Department for Educationwith lead responsibility for the universal early years system inSouth Australia. The office is responsible for ensuring thatagencies are acting in concert to deliver an integrated andeffective universal early years system, with a mandate to increasethe proportion of children developmentally on track when startingschool as measured by the Australian Early DevelopmentCensus.

The SeniorAdviser, Office for the Early Years is a member of the Office forthe Early Years leadership group and provides high level strategicsupport to the Head of the Office for the Early Years. The positionwill contribute to the achievement of the overall goals of thedivision and department by providing strategic advice and supportacross the division and providing quality assurance and support onpolicy issues.

Keyresponsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Lead and provide policy and portfolio advice in relation to the development of strategic policies and strategies, cabinet, ministerial and chief executive briefings, reports, and recommendations.
  • Develop complex, confidential and/or politically sensitive strategic policies and strategies and the supporting ministerial briefings, submissions, parliamentary briefings, communications, and other relevant correspondence.
  • Coordinate and provide quality assurance for government and corporate reporting, briefing and budget processes, and policy and procedure updates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support the Director on a range of across-government working groups and committees.
  • Provide high-level research, analysis, evaluation, and recommendations to inform planning and decision-making processes and deliver high level policy advice and written reports on a range of issues to support the objectives of the division.
  • Provide expert advice and support that contributes to the Head of the Office for the Early Years’ exercise of corporate governance, performance, reporting and accountability responsibilities.
  • Ensure the delivery of efficient work practices are maintained, and that continuous improvements to service delivery are identified, implemented, and reviewed.
  • Qualifications:

    Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification.

  • SpecialConditions:

    Thesuccessful applicant is required to gain a Department for HumanServices (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to beingemployed which is required to be renewed every five years beforeexpiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect -Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course orthe online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to beupdated every three years.

    Remuneration:
