Would you like to work within a caring Christian school environment? Brindabella Christian College, Canberra is seeking a Human Resource and Compliance Manager to commence as soon as possible.

Brindabella Christian College is a growing, non-denominational, co-educational Early Learning to Year 12 Christian School in the North of Canberra. It enjoys a reputation of being ‘student centered’ with excellence in pastoral care and has a vision to build a community of wisdom, integrity, service and excellence in and through Christian education.

The College covers two campuses in Lyneham and Charnwood with approximately 200 staff and over 1000 students.

The ELC’s at Charnwood and Lyneham caters for children 6-months to 5 years and over 400 enrolled children.

The Outside of School Hours/After-School programs also operate at both campuses.

Main Objectives:

1. Recruit Christian staff who will support the aims and ethos of the College.

2. Manage the induction of new staff.

3. Support staff wellbeing.

4. Manage staff performance and conduct.

5. Oversee compliance with HR policies and legal requirements.

6. Promote the excellent reputation of the College within the community.

7. Promote and model the Christian ethos and values of the College.

Selection Criteria:

1. Essential

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

· Completed or working towards a tertiary qualification in Business, Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations is advantageous.

· Proven experience in a HR management role.

· Prior experience in managing end-to-end recruitment in accordance with targeted selection recruitment methodology.

· Understanding of employment legislation, HR principles and best practices.

· Excellent computer skills including advanced skills in Office computing applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (Database).

· Strong organisational skills, and the ability to successfully complete several tasks concurrently.

· Experience in writing HR and reviewing policies and procedures and conducting training sessions with staff.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with management and staff.

· Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Current Working with Vulnerable People Clearance (WWVP) or ability to gain prior to commencement of employment.

Faith Basis of Employment

· Demonstrated ability to ensure that the Biblical World view is integrated into the HR practices based on the infallible Word of God.

· Fully support the ‘Faith Basis of Employment’ within Brindabella Christian College letter of offer and the Multi-Enterprise Agreement (these documents are available from the College’s website).

2. Desirable

· Experience working in a school environment.

· Experience in auditing policies, procedures and systems.

The position of Human Resource and Compliance Manager is responsible to the Office Manager, and it is expected that the incumbent will work collaboratively with Management and staff on the BCC campuses.

The remuneration package includes an attractive salary commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Salary: The ACT Christian Schools General Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement determines the classification aligned with the role and applicable salary. Level 6 requires degree or extensive experience; Level 7 requires degree with 4 years’ experience.

Hours of Work: Full-time (or part-time negotiable)
