Actively contribute to the scholarship of learning and teaching in Nursing and across the Melbourne School of Health Sciences.

About the Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences
In July 2009, Nursing became a Department of the School of Health Sciences, in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Nursing was established within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in 1996. The philosophy of nursing at The University of Melbourne is that clinical practice and practice-based research are integral to the educational preparation of all nurses at all levels of professional practice.

The research foci include cancer care; mental health; infant, child and adolescent health; skin integrity and wound care; and emergency and critical care. The School is also home to the Centre for Psychiatric Nursing.

About the Role
Located within the Department of Nursing at The University of Melbourne on the Parkville campus, the position involves teaching and learning in bioscience and pharmacology subjects for Registered Nurses (entry to, specialty practice, and advanced practice programs).

The Lecturer will contribute to the development, review, and delivery of course curriculum, and subject delivery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Making a significant contribution to the development of curriculum and delivery of educational programs using online and blended modes
  • Demonstrating a proactive reflexive teaching practice through seeking guidance from senior teaching staff and student feedback
  • Applying contemporary pedagogical insights to teaching practice, including those specific to the discipline of nursing
  • Establishing and maintaining liaison with clinical partners, and contribute expertise to the community
  • About You
    You are an ethical scholar who values diversity and works effectively with individual differences. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills, grant you the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively.

    You will also have:

  • Registered Health Professional with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • A specialist qualification and recent clinical experience working in nursing or community pharmacy
  • A PhD in Nursing or health related discipline
  • Evidence of an established profile in the scholarship in learning and teaching including publication and presentation of scholarly works
  • To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check.
