About the Role
The purpose of the role is to develop and coordinate and oversee the implementation and smooth running of the new Galiwin’ku Commercial Kitchen. The role will focus on training and development of Galiwin’ku based staff members, empowering them to manage their own enterprise.

This position is based in a remote community in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and preparation of lunches and dinners in line with contractual requirements.
  • Train and upskill staff into cookery, cleaning, and sales roles.
  • Work in line with costings and budget
  • Liaise with stakeholders around potential opportunities to expand the business
  • Oversee the compliance of the kitchen with Local, Territory and Federal requirements.
  • Be a champion of the ALPA values and demonstrate a commitment to work health and safety.
  • To Apply You Need to Demonstrate:

  • Sound commercial cooking and hospitality management skills
  • At least two years’ experience managing a commercial/high volume kitchen or similar.
  • A track record of effective training and development of diverse people.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all education levels, language abilities, and ethnic origin.
  • The capacity to link daily activities to the ALPA values and mission.
  • Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Hospitality or Commercial Cookery
  • Experience living and working in Remote Communities
