This opportunity

The Full Stack Backend Engineer works closely with our frontend engineer, product, marketing and care teams as the technical lead. The role supports the wider team and ensures that delivered solutions meet the business needs and adhere to coding and design standards.

Responsibilities

The Full Stack Backend Engineer, being supported by the Senior Engineering Manager, will take ownership of the tech stack, develop new features for the platforms, integrate third party services and maintain existing systems, optimize performance and enhance as required.

The technologies that YOU will be working with (but are not limited to) include:

Gatsby, GraphQL

Cloud services AWS (CodeBuilt, Lambda, APIGW, Google Cloud Platform)

NodeJS, Serverless, ExpressJS

SaaS platforms such as Braze and Branch

Work closely with the Product, Marketing, Care team and our vendors to drive the continuous improvements of our marketing and CRM stack

Brainstorm with Product Owners, Managers and other Engineers to help grow felix

produce high-quality results that have a significant business impact.

Be an advocate for improvements to our engineering best practices, tooling and processes.

Proactively find ways to improve the way we work, and speak up with suggestions for a better way, with the aim of exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Knowledge and experience

Proven experience as a Backend Engineer.

Experience developing production web applications and understand website best practices and optimisations.

Experience contributing or leading technical architecture discussions and drive technical decisions for the team.

Experience with integrating SaaS platforms (CRM, analytics) into existing business systems.

Experience designing, implementing and managing systems in AWS.

Strong problem-solving, analytical and debugging skills.

Able to interpret complex business needs into working technical specifications.
