About the Role

 

The Research Fellow will contribute to the research efforts of UniSA STEM, in particular will undertake research on the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project “Build competency aware and assuring machine learning systems”.

The Institute builds on the significant capability, infrastructure and reputation of the University’s existing research strengths and substantial research infrastructure and supports state and national research priorities. 

Core Responsibilities 

  • In collaboration with the Chief Investigators, conduct high-quality research to achieve the project goals, and ensure delivery of project’s research milestones, objectives and work programs are met on time
  • Produce high quality peer-reviewed journal and conference publications derived from research project activities
  • Contribute to the preparation of research project proposal submissions
  • Provide advice to postgraduate students, internship students and visiting students in the appointee’s area of expertise
  • Attend and actively participate in professional activities associated with relevant research projects, and prepare and present at conferences and professional functions as directed by the Chief Investigators
  • Essential Skills and Experience 

  • A PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, with research experience relevant to the project
  • Evidence of a strong track record of high-quality publications and growing citation impact
  • Demonstrated high level skills and experience in programming
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports, research publications and educational materials, and through effective liaison with external partners, colleagues and students
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight work schedules, including effective organisational skills in prioritising to meet deadlines often with competing demand
