Job Description

  • $26.24 – $26.53 per hour + 25% casual loading – Casual up to 30 June 2023 multiple positions – WHA2
  • On a casual basis, you will contribute to the delivery of a timely, efficient and effective catering service within the Ceduna District Health Service. Your duties will encompass the preparation, service and delivery of food to clients. You will prepare breakfasts, soups, gravies and fast serve foods, for example sausage rolls, wraps and bacon and eggs. Cutting and portioning ingredients for meal packs, you will receive stock, reconstitute and plate frozen food. Assisting clients to fill out menus, you will ensure requests for specific dietary requirements are referred to the appropriate staff and notify any food complaints to the supervisor. You will also undertake food preparation of vegetables, meat, salads, sandwiches and toast and prepare food trays and trolleys for service. As well as operating kitchen equipment and utensils, you will assist with serving meals and tea and coffee making. It will be part of your responsibility to ensure a clean and tidy work area and to wash utensils and kitchen equipment. With some prior experience in providing a catering service, you will have basic knowledge of Food Safety Standards and Infection Control Standards. With a flexible approach to work and rostering systems, you will be able to work alone or within a team environment, and work within set timeframes. You will be willing to provide assistance and cooperation to other staff, and perform under general direction or work under limited supervision. At all times you will be committed to using discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality.

    Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements. COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Emergency Management (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) Directions 2021 to work in SA Health/health care setting.
