  • This position is currently located at the Wantirna campus but the incumbent may be required to undertake duties at any of the University’s campuses. Thus the incumbent must be willing to travel between campuses and work at a range of locations.

To assist in achieving this vision, Swinburne’s Vocational Education team is now inviting applications of interest for VE casual teachers in Mental Health Nursing.

    Our VE teachers inspire, engage and educate our students for the 21st century, through implementing industry best practice and applying current learning technologies and contemporary learning pedagogies. 

    You will work collaboratively within a team of education professionals to plan deliver, assess, evaluate and ensure compliance of high-quality education and training programs. This role requires our teachers to be able to customise and adapt our programs to meet our learners and clients’ needs that vary from certificate level through to diploma and associate degree levels.

    About you 
    To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality innovative teaching and learning programs in a variety of learning modes which respond to a diverse range of student and client needs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, customised and safe learning environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of students and clients. 
  • Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in continuous improvement, audit processes and the maintenance of high quality training and assessment materials.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Vocational Education and Training policies and frameworks.

  • Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • OR 

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including the following units: TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor, ORTAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • AND 

  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools or its successor, ORTAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools ORTAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools
  • OR

  • Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
  • Division 1 Nursing Registration 
  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification in Nursing – experience in mental health nursing desirable
  • AQF5 level (or above) qualification in Education
