Kanga Cup

The Kanga Cup is the largest youth football tournament in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting over teams from Australia and overseas. It is conducted in July over a week in Canberra. The Kanga Cup was also presented with the Minister for Sport and Recreation’s Award for Event Excellence.

Overview

This internship may be completed by a very motivated individual or a team of dedicated students and is based around 3-4 key events held during the Kanga Cup, including the Opening Ceremony, any evening events, and Grand Final Day.

The internship will involve overseeing all aspects of a particular project/event during the Kanga Cup, including pre-planning and brainstorming, the allocation of resources, creative influences, staff/volunteer management, through to execution and review.

The successful person/team would work closely with the Kanga Cup Director and Event Manager, and will gain valuable experience in the running of large scale events and all elements of project management.
The successful person will gain valuable skills in dealing with commercial and community partners to achieve a shared outcome.

Position Outline

The internship will involve overseeing all aspects of a particular event/s during the Kanga Cup.

Specific tasks include:

  • Event brainstorming
  • Schedule planning
  • Staff and volunteer management
  • Budget control and implementation
  • Event operations & production
  • Event delivery
  • Reviewing afterwards
  • The opportunity to broaden the understanding of key entertainment events, as well as working on all elements of an event such as an opening ceremony, our evening events and finals day.
