  • Job Description: Maintenance/Groundskeeper ES1-2

    The Maintenance/Groundskeeper role encompasses the following tasks –

  • Oversee daily maintenance requests and prioritise works in order of urgency
  • Take a hands on approach in performing daily maintenance tasks whenever required which will include removal of graffiti, emergency maintenance, cleaning, deliveries, and general repairs
  • Visual and manual inspections of school grounds including flooring, electrics, plumbing, roofing, and general fixtures and fittings
  • Identify, report and advise on major furniture, fixture and equipment renewal needs across the school
  • Maintaining grounds and gardens including blowing, weeding, planting, spraying, and pruning
  • Cleaning up rubbish and debris from grounds
  • Modifications and repairs to the school property
  • Preparation and painting of ad hoc interior and exterior surfaces
  • Support of minor project development on grounds and in buildings
  • Moving furniture and equipment
  • Drive to collect materials or orders
  • Maintenance of work-sheds and storerooms
  • Set up/ pack down of events that are held onsite eg: School concerts, Information Nights, Graduation etc.
  • Other duties as negotiated with Assistant Principal or their delegate
  • An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

    Responsibilities

  • Manage the use and maintenance of equipment within a work area.
  • Ensure security is maintained within a work area.
  • Manage procedures relating to the hiring of school buildings and equipment in accordance with school policy.
  • Manage procedures relating to the maintenance of specialist collections, library resource material and collections.
  • Evaluate and select equipment and materials and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop procedures relating to the use and maintenance of equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials.
