About the Role

As a Digital Curriculum Librarian, you will provide specialist digital curriculum, digital literacy and online pedagogy support to UniSA Online and the wider University academic community. You will work with Online Course Facilitators, Program Directors and other academic and professional staff to achieve the University’s digital transformation strategy, ensuring resources are embedded in the teaching curriculum.

About The University of South Australia Library 

The University of South Australia Library supports the University’s teaching, learning and research mission through the provision of relevant information resources and associated services. The Library also coordinates copyright for the University. There are four campus libraries located at City East, City West, Magill and Mawson Lakes and an off-campus Library Service that supports regional engagement at Whyalla and Mt Gambier. Information technology and information resource management services are managed from the Mawson Lakes campus. 

Operating in an environment of increasing demand of digital information services, the Library has a rapidly growing electronic collection of books and journals with over 1.2 million eBooks and > 193,000 online journals as well as print resources and archival collections. The Library has implemented an innovative “Ask the Library” service to provide support to the University’s staff and students wherever they are. The Library also plays a significant role in training staff and students in information skills.

Core Responsibilities

The positions support the creation of new and redevelopment of existing UO courses by providing: 

  • Advice on digital textbook alternatives, readings and OER 
  • Provision of copyright advice, including securing permission for copyright restricted/licence online content as well as support of the reading management system 
  • Coordinate the extensive searching and acquisition of digital resources 
  • Creation, maintenance and upgrading of digital dexterity resources for students 
  • In addition, this position also supports the research activities of UO academic staff by assisting with:

  • Support with literature reviews, endnote and specialist research advice 
  • Design, market and lead targeted services to support the research priorities of the University 
  • Providing expert assistance to clients with complex information and resource discovery needs and assist them with developing strategies which showcase their research outputs 

  • Essential Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Information Management or Education, or equivalent skills and knowledge, including experience in an academic or research library 
  • Demonstrated expertise in selecting and evaluating educational technologies and integrating digital and interactive learning experiences to enable and increase student participation and engagement in different discipline areas 
  • Experience in designing learning resources for a variety of digital learning and web-based experiences including training 
  • Understanding of best practice methodologies and pedagogy for online learning, and developments in digital literacy
