Job Description

We’re looking for a Research Lead to join our Collections & Discovery team on a fixed-term temporary basis.

In this busy and rewarding role you will be responsible for leading and conducting research to prepare resources for government agencies to identify the historical functions, powers and responsibilities that have affected the lives of First Nations peoples.

Your strong leadership skills will enable you to effectively work in a diverse team and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

This is a job where you can make a difference and contribute to managing and preserving Queenslanders past – the histories of families, local communities and the state.

In this role you will:

• Undertake complex research, including analysing and collating the research, by reviewing legislation, policy arrangements and liaising with department representatives

• Prepare and present summary reports for key departments detailing how their former functions, powers and responsibilities have affected the lives of First Nations peoples

• Develop and maintain a system to manage and record the research data

• Provide advice and guidance to First Nations Metadata Improvement Program team on research findings and impacts

• Undertake presentations as required and prepare discussion papers, reports and briefing notes related to the research

• Lead and support a small research team, oversee and prioritise the team’s daily work activities and manage resource allocation

• Build and maintain networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
