Senior Research Officer at The University of Western Australia (Perth)

Job Description

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, provide administrative and organisational support to a major research initiative in deep-sea exploration hosted by the Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research centre.

You will support the centre’s activities through financial systems, travel arrangements, purchasing and procurement, postgrad admin support and international permitting to facilitate science at sea.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency

Substantial relevant management / administrative experience at an appropriate level, including demonstrated project management skills, financial literacy, and experience in managing the operations of a large research investment (or equivalent)

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including substantial proficiency at summarising information from multiple sources into meaningful summaries suitable for various stakeholders

Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability to negotiate with key stakeholders and liaise collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse groups of people

Highly developed organisational skills, demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email

Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively in a team

Demonstrated attention to detail
