About the Opportunity

Located at our Clarence Gardens factory, this full time opportunity reports to the Compliance Manager. This role will appeal a highly motivated individual to bring drive and capability to the business. The performance of our 24 hour operation relies heavily on an efficient Laboratory. 

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for supporting the overall operation of the Clarence Gardens Laboratory.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the Laboratory team to ensure the timely testing and release of raw materials and finished product
  • Provide support and advice to the site in regards to chemical & microbial test results and their correlation to the Production operation
  • Investigating and problem-solving quality related issues in a timely manner
  • Provide supervision to the Laboratory staff (including managing performance & development)
  • To provide a timely communication of results of all testing and analysis to internal and external customers
  • To ensure the provision of an efficient and reliable testing service in accordance with approved methods
  • Assist where appropriate the implementation of corporate laboratory methods, sampling plans and standardised reporting to the site
  • Periodically review laboratory performance against a defined set of measures. These are based on but not limited to, calibration and testing accuracy, result traceability, customer service, budget compliance and continuous improvement incorporating corrective and preventative action.
  • Participate in HACCP Audits/Reviews and Internal Audits.

The ideal candidate will be tertiary qualified (Degree in Food Science) or have a Certificate IV in Food Processing, with significant experience in the Food industry and Laboratory applications.  Specific knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and HACCP is also required. 

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships is also critical to this position.
